Beauty and the Body

Date: Saturday, February 11, 2012
Time: 1 - 3:30 pm
Location: Center for Christian Study

How does culture shape the way we eat, exercise and look in the mirror? What is the difference between a perfectionist and a person of excellence? What are the ways we use emotional eating to fill our spiritual needs?

This workshop will address the cultural, psychological, familial, and peer issues that are influencing abnormal eating in students today. Through the use of video clips, media clips, and experiential exercises, information will be provided on ways to tackle the tough topics of body image, media messages, diets and exercise.  We will address ways to make needed changes at home, school, and in the wider culture, as well as where to get help, how to help a friend, and basics about the treatment and recovery process. This seminar promises to be fun, entertaining, and informative while dealing with a sensitive topic.

Please note: This event is for women of the University community only. Please call the Study Center at 434.817.1050 if you have any questions.
